New Pet Fish Teaser

Hello! I've got good news for you! We have finally found a new pet fish for Gabby. It is a blue Siamese Spienden or fighting fish. Siamese fighting fish has the ability to breathe oxygen from the atmosphere so they thrive in aquariums even without oxygen, the reason why we chose him - yes he is a male species. But Gabby wanted to name him Sarah. LOL! She said you can hardly tell the difference between a male and a female fighting fish anyway. Oh! This is another chance to learn and expand my knowledge, I said to myself. So give me some time to read more about it then I will be posting the information here next time. Do come back again soon!

Annica Is Apple

Hi Anicca. You think you are mango, but they call you an apple? Hmmm. I am going to reveal to you what and Apple is then tell me which one best describes you!

If apple is your favorite fruit, you are an extravagant, impulsive and outspoken person, often with a bit of a temper. While you may not be the best organizer yourself, you make a good team leader and are good at taking things forward. You can take quick action in most situations. You enjoy travel immensely. You ooze with charm when you are with your partner. You have an enthusiasm for life,  unmatched by most.

SocialSpark Your Blog

I rushed home today from a seminar because I couldn’t wait to get to my laptop after almost four “no opps, no tasks” days. I am so glad to receive an email notification from SocialSpark today breaking the good news that my blogs have been approved and that I could go to my account right away and browse available opportunities for me!

Unlike other advertising media, SocialSpark is a Social Marketing Network, taking advertising media a nudge higher as it is not just a place where advertisers and bloggers are connected to create business opportunities through an online marketplace. But it also provides a community for interaction and communication between advertisers and bloggers. Here you can find newest blog posts, favorite opps taken, most propped blogs and opportunities, featured blog and activities etc.,which are also made viewable to the public. This design maintains honesty and openness about the occurrence of transactions between an advertiser and a blogger as SocialSpark upholds Truth in advertising. Advertisers are able to target blogs where their products or services are suitable to be posted, and tender cash sponsorships to the bloggers who consequently make money by publishing them either by posting display advertisements on their blog or writing sponsored content, depending on the specific requirement of an advertiser.

Now, if you are anxious about your blog not passing the usual qualifications for approval, or to be blunt about it, rejected because it does not bear any Google PageRank but a frustrating “0” (zero, zip, nil, zilch!! Oh, I know how you feel!), you are in a total muddle! Because this clamor has been addressed in SocialSpark’s marketplace and is specified in their code of ethics:

-        100% Audit-able In-Post Disclosure

Tingling Numbness

Have you felt a tingling sensation in your hands while it feels numb? It always happens to me, not just in my hands but also in wrist, feet, legs and arms. I noticed that I usually feel this in my legs when sitting for a long period of time, or when crossing my legs or sometimes remaining in the same standing position for a long time. I will have to wait for it to pass after a minute or so otherwise, it would be very difficult to walk with it in your legs. I surmised that lack of blood supply to an area or part of the body (some which I mentioned above) is what causes it but I didn't bother to know any further, until yesterday. Gabby was complaining that her left hand hurts. I asked her to describe what she felt in her hand and she said it felt like there were needles poking her hand and that she couldn't feel anything. You know kids, we need to build up their vocabulary! ( sometimes parents need it too! LOL.) So I taught her the exact words to describe what she was feeling. She asked "why?", so I explained that the blood in her hand couldn't circulate very well because she was lying on it for a long time. Then she popped out another "why?". And so the never ending quest for an answer begun. LOL! Don't you just love kids??? I do. I learn a lot from them. Really!

And so I read about it. Numbness and tingling are unusual sensations that can happen in different parts of the body, but often in our hands, arms, legs or feet. In the medical field it is called Paresthesia, other names are Sensory Loss or Tingling and Numbness. There are many possible causes, one of which is the lack of blood supply to an area specially when pressure is put to it (so I was right. LOL!). That's basically the explanation to the common tingling and numbness that we experience. However, those who have or may be having an existing medical condition such as diabetes, migraines, multiple sclerosis, injury to a nerve, pressure on the spinal nerves, Vitamin B12 deficient,  also experience this as these conditions also causes tingling numbness. So if tingling numbness happens to you often, you better consult with your doctor.

Being Optimistic

I got the approval from SponsoredReviews.com for this site. Upon reading the email notification from them, I went to open my SponsoredReviews account and found over 40 opportunities to choose from! Wow! But of course I will have to send my bid for every opportunity and await advertiser's approval before I can write a post about an assignment. I sent my bids and I expect to be very busy once I get the approval! Yes. I am anticipating tons of work at this point! Talk about being optimistic! LOL! So come back soon for a heap of well reviewed and no nonsense posts here!

Race Is Pineapple

Hi Race! Got your messages. Seems you are having a hard time again dropping messages on my site. Thanks for taking time out. Anyway, here’s what your favorite fruit says about YOU:

PINEAPPLE

You are quick to decide and even quicker to act. You are brave in asking career changes, if that is what is to your advantage. You have exceptional organizing abilities and are undaunted by the size of the task at hand. You tend to be self reliant, sincere and honest in your dealings with others. Though you are not given to making friends very quickly, but once you do, it is for life. Your partner is often impressed with your sterling qualities but disappointed in your ability to show affection.

I agree with this. You can accomplish heap of tasks on your plate. I was a witness to this, you can multi task with very minimal assistance or help. I guess that was good training from where we we used to work. We were expected to learn on our own! Now, I just don't know if you have problems expressing your feelings to your partner? Do you?

Swimming Lessons Day 7

So glad the sun is finally out after over a week of rain, drizzles, and cool weather. Gabby is back to polish her swimming skills and learn new things. Coach Rudy, her favorite coach, was there to teach her so she was also enthusiastic today. I understand that kids, specially toddlers, learn faster when they feel safe and comfortable with their instructors or teachers. She got scared in class one time when one instructor, probably not having a “way with kids”, handled her. He seemed strict and firm, friendly but not charming to kids, I should say. Though some of the students there who are older enjoy his company and have a positive opinion about his style. I guess there isn’t a single general approach to it, not a “one-style-fits-all” prospective in this case. There are age appropriate “syles or methods” to be applied.  For now, we will be sticking with coach Rudy though I never discouraged Gabby from taking up lessons under the “stricter” coach because I want her to be able to cope  with the fear and discomfort that she felt that time, teaching her not to run away from it but to face it with courage and objectivity.

Genny Is Mango

Hi Genny. Thank you for your reply. Here is what your favorite fruit says about YOU:

MANGO

A mango lover is a personality to reckoned with; quite often, you are a person who has quite fixed ideas, and influencing you is not an easy task. You tend to be an extremist with strong likes and dislikes, and at times even like to control a situation. You enjoy getting involved in something that presents mental challenge. Strong as you may be, you are like a kitten when you are with your partner. You accommodate the love of your life, and make up for all the strong will elsewhere!

I like the last part where it says that you are a softy despite of your strong personality. LOL! So tell me if this is who you are! I am interested to get to know you better.

Praying Is Basic

I read a post by my good friend Race about the problems she is currently encountering with the application to Paypal of her EON Unionbank Card. She’s been getting the message “ This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued the credit card.”  I would like to share this rather funny yet meaningful experience with you Race and all my readers.

I exactly had the same problem with my own EON Card. I reported it thrice to the issuing bank, I sent emails to PayPal, I tried re enrolling the card again and again. Then I finally said “STOP!” I noticed it was just going round in circles but the problem was not being resolved. I had to sitdown CALMLY in front of my laptop, went to Unionbank Website, and read CAREFULLY and PATIENTLY the instruction on how to enroll the account in PayPal. I found out that there should be atleast Php200.00 balance in my EON card (to prove account history) in order to get approval from PayPal. So without wasting more time, I went to Unionbank and deposited the required amount. I went back home and opened the PayPal website to enroll. I got the the confirmation right away!

Lesson Learned: READ! Really, that’s the bottom line. I was so eager and excited  to start making money, I tend to short cut or bypass some steps and processes hoping to expedite it. Haha. In life, we are faced with a lot of these, and oftentimes we get too emotional that’s why we don’t get to think clearly and objectively. We sometimes forget to do the basics. In the case above, to read  guidelines and instructions was the basic thing to do. But really, in life, PRAYING is the basic thing to do to get that clarity of mind and proper discernment.

Who Is Trying To Call You?

A lot of times our phone rings in the middle of doing a very important task or errand, during parties, or just when we are about to doze off after a tiring day at work. Only to find out that it was a call from someone we didn’t want to talk to, or somebody from a telemarketing company offering new products and services that we just don’t need. WhoJustCalledHere.com provides the solution to this very rampant situation. You just need to register your number with their “no call list”. Being added there will remove all your information from any data source that can be accessed by any telemarketers.  And they don’t charge a fee for it, just a bit of your time to register.  However, if it just won’t suffice and you are willing to pay some fees to know who just called you, WhoJustCalledHere.com can provide you with further assistance through their reverse phone lookup service wherein a phone number can be traced back to find out where it came from.  This is a helpful service to keep you away from those unwanted phone calls.

I Am Pear

I got an email from a friend that came with a captioned subject “Peach”.  I didn’t bother to read it because I was busy blogging. A few minutes passed by I received another email alert from another friend having a captioned subject “Banana”! Hmmm. What’s with all these fruits??? I got nosy and finally decided to open it. And I had fun with it so allow me to share it with you.

Apparently, it was an email where you will have to pick out only one of your favorite fruits from the given list.  Every fruit has a corresponding personality trait at the bottom of the message. There was an instruction to choose first before scrolling further down so you don’t get to choose which fruit should match your personality ( no cheating of course!) So I chose Pear, then I scrolled down and got this:

PEAR - If you put your mind to something you can do it successfully,
but
by and large you tend to be fickle and have trouble completing a task
with the enthusiasm you started it with.
You need to know the results of your efforts almost immediately. You enjoy mental stimulation and love to get into a good discussion! You
tend to be a restless and high-strung person, and are easily
excited. Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect! It means you've decided
 to see beyond the imperfections!

I was surprised after reading this because this is really ME. Most of the time I am so enthusiastic with a new project but also have the tendency to wane down after a while on it. This is because I easily get impatient and want to do something new again. Specially the last part, being happy doesn’t mean everything’s got to be perfect because I am settled knowing there no such thing as perfect in this world, only God is!

I am copying the list here.  Why don’t you choose one, let me know your favorite and I’ll provide you with its corresponding personality trait!

  1. Orange
  2. Apple
  3. Banana
  4. Coconut
  5. Pineapple
  6. Papaya
  7. Mango
  8. Cherry
  9. Black Grapes
  10. Peach
  11. Custard Apple
  12. Pear

Be sure to swing right back for your answer which I will post here. I'll make sure to include your link on it!

Your Blog Can Make Money

This is so true. I didn’t know about this until a friend, who is also a blogger, told me that she has been making extra money from blogging.  So I found out about bloggerwave.com, an advertising media on blogs that gives opportunities for people like me who just love to write and blog, to earn that extra cash.  It is going to be a big help for me to earn extra while being at home with my family. If you have a blog, just simply click on the link to find out how you can register and start making money from it.

Divine Potter

I have seen a correlation between my recent post entitled “Potter Wasp”  and this post.  It shows once again how amazing God is. How His wisdom and understanding created the world and everything  in it.  How mind boggling how an adult  wasp  knows how to take care of its egg, how she prepares the nest with sustenance in it, to serve as  the breeding vessel for her egg to grow and fully develop into an adult. Wow! Then I remember a preaching during one of our meetings in church on discipline.  God, our divine potter, is looking after our life. He puts us under rigid training and formation of character and personality a.ka. discipline. As He is the potter, I am the lump of clay that He puts into the wheel. He puts an adequate amount of water, smashes, flatten, pinches, turns me inside out and upside down. Adding more water as needed to achieve that perfect texture and consistency required to mold me into a pot.  I am bent into shapes, twisted sometimes pained or dismantled in the process. When He sees that He has already molded me into the correct shape and form, He then puts me in the oven, and strengthen me with fire.  Finally, I have become whole and now ready to be put to use.  Would you have resisted the moldings, the turns, the pinches and the smashes? Or Would you have jumped out of His wheel when you started to feel the hurt and the pains of the bents during the process? Knowing that He is an Almighty and Loving Father to His children, I will trust His ways and I will submit myself under His discipline because I want to be used by Him, as an instrument to carry out His plan. Thank you Father.

No Opps For Me Today

Well I guess it was just not my day! No opps to work on, no tasks to accomplish. Been waiting for those approval. Ahhumm! It’s already morning, it was a long day for me….waiting, checking out opps and tasks tabs, writing personal blog for future posts, watching over Gabby, reading, waiting again, checking out opps and tasks tabs, writing personal blog for future posts…so on and on and on! I checked it out again two minutes ago, as a last ditch effort, but there’s just none for me today. Oh I almost forgot, there’s still tomorrow! Thank you Father!

Potter Wasp

I was browsing the internet looking for some references for the new post that I am doing regarding pottery and I saw a very interesting subject. Since I was trying to google the word “pottery” , a “Potter Wasp” came out and caught my interest. So I decided to write about it first.

Potter Wasps obtained their name from “pottery” (obviously!) because they can construct a nest that shapes like a pot.  It is usually made of mud and regurgerated water or chewed plant materials. This kind of wasp makes nest provisioning specifically for its larva, laying a single egg in an empty nest or just at the opening, suspended from a thread which it also makes.  Adult wasp catches beetle larvae, caterpillars or spiders, paralyzes them then puts them inside the nest. As soon as the egg hatches, the larva will drop directly on the provisioned prey and starts to feed on it which normally takes a few weeks before it goes through the pupa stage. Its life cycle reaches its completion from a few weeks until more than a year before the egg becomes an adult.

What’s even more amazing is that it was believed that Native Americans based their pottery designs from a Potter Wasp’s nest. Wow!

Swimming Lessons Day 6

We were absent from class for a week because Gabby had an eye infection. The swelling was gone yesterday so we decided to come to class this morning. Her favorite coach was absent which made her a little sad. I noticed she was not that comfortable in the water at first. I said maybe because the water is cold since we have been experiencing windy and rainy days for the past four to five days.  Also because she rested for a week and needed a “break in” initially to get back the feel of it and begin to employ the trainings from her previous classes. However, the weather did not cooperate as it begun to rain while we were half way through the class so we had to cut short her lesson and went back home.

I Signed Up For PPP

I have another thrilling news to all of you! This site has just been approved by PPP today! It got me so excited and more inspired to write more entries (the same excitement I felt when I first got hired for a job, LOL). Now I can earn out of something that I have been wanting to do…which is obviously writing. It will definitely help me with my expenses being a single parent and a WAHM. With the inflation rates today it sure is better to have extra income.  Although to write or author a book or a newspaper/ magazine never became my goal, I find use and value in expressing my thoughts through written words.  So just to be able to have a space where I can write just about anything and everything in the hope to share values and life experiences is enough for me.

Racel, my fellow blogger is sure to get excited too when she reads this. She was the one who introduced me to blogging and is mentoring me through it. I heard about her good experiences with PayPerPost and how trouble-free it is to submit an application there so I took her word for it. It also helped reading some posts about PPP by other bloggers hence, this. Now that I have a first hand experience with it, I agree with them. You just need to submit your blog which is 30 days old with 30 posts. Once approved, you can already start taking opportunities or Opps as we call it in blogging, then you are set to go!

I am currently encouraging my friends and relatives especially WAHMs, who also have a knack for writing to start building up their own site and eventually monetizing it. Special mention to Liza for assisting me to set up my debit card account for this purpose.

Thank you PayPerPost for the wonderful opportunity.

Dinner With Claire

My friends and I had a special get together dinner on Wednesday. I call it special because one of our friends who is now living in Cebu is in town. We haven’t seen each other for the past two years and we were so eager to see her again.

Claire or Cla as we call her is a woman of wisdom. I believe that she has a gift of discernment. Her eloquence, intelligence and a sense of humor draw us closer to her. We are always enthusiastic to hear her opinions and perspectives about things because there is always enlightenment imparted. And what created a balance in her personality is here sense of humor. She does not take herself seriously. I said it in the context of humility. She is not afraid to show that just like other human, she had made a lot of mistakes , crazy and “unintelligent” choices. But just laughed at them, gleaned on the lessons learned and just opted to move on.  She also recognizes the need to ask for advices and suggestions when necessary. Not a know-it-all type of person. That’s why we love her.

See you again soon  CLA! More than anything, we will miss her one of a kind laughter that could damage your eardrums! Haha.

So thankful for these two dear bloggers Emzkie and Racel who thought of awarding me with this “5 Star Award”.  Appreciate you always remembering me. A Mother's Day Card From Gabby

Photobucket

Gabby made this card for me this morning. I was working on my computer when she approached me to give this card. She kissed me on the cheek, greeted “Happy Mother’s Day Mom” then handed me this card. She asked the help of her Nanny Phia she said.  This certainly made my day. A Happy Mother's Day indeed!

Cheers To Moms

Mother’s Day is a day to honor mothers around the world. As it has different origins, the date, reason and manner of celebration differ from one country to another.  In the Philipines, following the western civilization, it is celebrated every second Sunday in May hence, today May 11, I am sending my warmest greetings to all the wonderful mothers I know especially to my MOM. Who is truly a mother in all aspect of the word. Her love is abounding, unconditional, unchanging and selfless through the years.  With all my love to you...

Flu Shot

Gabby and I got our flu shots yesterday.  It is the single best way to protect ourselves against the flu each year. It is approved for use in people not younger than 6 months, including healthy people and those with chronic medical conditions. The vaccine contains three influenza viruses that alters each year. Two weeks after being injected with it, antibodies that gives protection against influenza virus infection build up in the body.

It is important to know when the Flu season begins and ends so you would know the best time to get vaccinated. Flue season starts in October and lasts till late May. Hence the best time to get the vaccine is within October to December. We got ours this month as per our doctor’s advise, in preparation for the coming school year.

There are also different minor side effects from the flu shot that usually last from 2 to 3 days like soreness, redness or swelling where the shot was given, fever and aches. Gabby got a slight fever while my upper arm still feels sore and numb.

Under The Spreading Cherry Blossoms Tree

My sister sent me this picture of her with her sons last month under the beautiful Cherry Blossoms Tree or Sakura in the Japanese language. It also originated from other east Asian states like Taiwan, China, Korea and Taiwan. In Japan, a practice of flower viewing or hanami has been a heritage where imperial households, singers and other aristocrats would gather and celebrate under the blossoms. Moreover, Hanami Festivals celebrate the beauty of the sakura and a chance for many to calm down and enjoy the beautiful and colorful view. The blossoming begins in January in Okinawa and reaches Tokyo at the end of March or the beginning of April. What’s amazing is that this tree only blooms once a year and only lasts within a week! Wow. That explains why people there are so excited to see them bloom!

My sister also said that most Japanese schools and public buildings have sakura trees outside since the school year begins in April. And that these flowers are seen on almost all consumer goods in Japan, also on paper, dinner ware, kimono and dolls.

Mummy Meme

“A Mother to her children, loves them, comforts and care for them, protects them, educates them, watches over them. Like God, she cannot forget her nursing child and not have compassion on the son/daughter in her womb.” – Geng and The Amplified Bible

It is indeed great to be a mother. Motherhood is such a great blessing. In a child's eye, the mother is the most beautiful woman in his life, for it is from her that he was loved and cherished unconditionally.

Share your favorite Mother's Day quotes and place your blog/name right after the piece of artwork.

2.     Manna from Heaven / Lena

3.  And Life Goes On / Lena

4.  Sheng's Simple Thoughts... / SHENG

5.  Just Anot3. her Day / Emzkie

Thanks Race. I loved doing this pre Mother’s Day meme. I truly understood and appreciated my mom more when I became a mother myself.  It is a serious and hearty WORK! So I believe that mother’s day should be celebrated everyday, not by material gifts or expensive dinners but by a sincere expression of our love for them. A simple “I love you Mom or Thank you Mom” everyday can go a long way.  So I’ve decided to coin a quote base from my favorite book for this meme.

Swimming Lessons - 4th Day

Gabby and I were feeling excited and eager this morning on our way to her swimming class. Last night we watched her videos from her previous lessons and saw her promptly acquiring the basic skills taught her. She has improved from doing bubbles from 2 seconds to 5 second, her legs straighter now when she kicks, she is more comfortable now swimming with goggles on. She is getting better each session which is a good thing. Will keep you guys posted!

Labor Day Celebration

It was the first time that I experienced Labor Day Celebration on May 1, held at the World Trade Center in Manila. Different labor groups came in color coded shirts for group identification. People were already there as early as 6:50am, the place was designed with colorful balloons and streamers. The activities started at 9am, Job Fare in one room, Labor Day program at the other. I was there to accompany my sister who was going to receive her National Certificate (NC II) for Culinary Arts from TESDA. Obviously she passed the course and apparently, the certification given to her is a license for her to work abroad. The awarding was held there as part of the program for Labor Day celebration. Vice President of the Philippines Noli De Castro was there to show the government's support and assurance that their grievances and call for certain improvements and changes in the existing labor laws i.e. wage increase, housing loan interest are being addressed by the government. Members of the labor groups were also awarded certificates and benefits from SSS and other government bodies. Two members won the Condominium units that were raffled off as one of the highlights of the program. The celebration ended at 3pm. We surely had a very long and tiring day.

 day.

I Missed Dancing

Last April 21st was my Lola Cely’s Birthday celebration held at their residence. Unlike her past birthday parties, it was just a simple party mostly attended by close relatives and a few good friends. There was ballroom dancing (her favorite pastime) wherein three dance instructors were hired to teach the guests dance basic. I got all sweaty dancing the swing, the cha cha and the mambo. I used to love dancing when I was younger, I remember joining almost all the dance groups in school. That night I had to refresh my memory of those basic dance steps. Wow, I realized I haven’t danced for a long time so I enjoyed every minute of it.

Page Rank 3

Oh I am so thrilled to find out that Google gave this site a rank 3! For a new blogger like me, this is just so great! Funny I didn’t notice the ranking at my own Google Page Rank counter until Race (oh, you are really a big help to me Sis! Thank you so much!) informed me via IM. I got so excited I wanted to call my bank to fix the debit card they issued to me ASAP so I can enroll it in Paypal. However, it is Saturday today, no banks obviously, so I just have to contain my excitement and wait till Monday, lol! Makes me want to blog more!

Also, congratulations to Shimumsy for getting the same rank. I went to her site earlier and saw her post on this even before I got the good news from Race. Yahoo! The more, the merrier!

19th Family Reunion

April 27th was the 19th Correa Clan Reunion hosted by the Correas in Novaliches (Correa is my Mom’s maiden name). It was held in a resort where the kids had a wonderful time playing and swimming in the pool to get refreshed from the summer heat. The adults had fun singing and dancing to the reunion’s “Summer Luau” theme for this year. Tributes and appreciations were presented to the “Oldies” of the clan, for their good influence and contributions unconditionally given to the family. We had a feast that day, each family brought different kind of dishes, merienda, snacks and refreshments. There were games for the kids and beautiful prizes. It was also a time of catching up with some of our relatives we only get to see during this occasion. We had thanksgiving prayers before and after the celebration for the wonderful, healthy and safe year we had last year.

I look forward to our next family reunion. I will fill you in with the happenings again next year!

First Swimming Lessons

Finally, I have already enrolled Gabby to her first ever swimming class! I’ve been planning to do this but for some reasons it has been pushed back until today!

A friend of mine encouraged me to take Gabby to this swimming school where her three kids are presently taking up swimming classes as well. It is owned and managed by a popular Filipino-Family Olympic Champions and the only TESDA licensed swimming school in the Philippines (so they claim, huh!). The pool is “kid friendly” I should say, because it is only from 3 feet to 5 feet and partly covered, which I preferred. At least there is a shade to protect Gabby from the sun’s direct heat which could be harmful to her skin. They have around 12 instructors everyday to provide the students with one-on-one lessons.

Gabby was a bit scared at first but she easily got back her composure and was already comfortable in the water after the first 15 minute of the lesson.  She learned how to wear her goggles, do bubbles and trashing movement with her legs.

We are into another milestone in her life!  Thank you Father!

I got this MY TO DO LIST from Race. I like this. I think that it is important and efficient to always have a list of to-do’s handy because it keeps you focus! Here it is:

1.Go out there everyday! Touch other people’s lives.

2.Follow up activation of my debit card on Monday

3.Go to Gabby’s pedia for our Flu Vaccine on Monday

4.Update Lifeline Board on Tuesday

5.Check out Kumon Fees on Tuesday

6.Go to Divisoria to look for items for a client on Wednesday

7.Go to SEC to file our company name on Thursday

I know you have your To Do List too, so I wanted to know them. I think this is fun so I am starting this tag. Have fun !!!. Let me know if you are done already, ok.?

my  list could go on and on so I am stopping now and tagging Chino, Alf, Janet, and Tanya
